Dear future College Writing
student,
One thing I have
to say is always prioritize! School comes first. There will always be parties
and events going on around campus so there is not really much you are missing
out on. Some of the fears I had before taking this class is not excelling in my
essays. I wanted the reader to understand my arguments more clearly and even
though I am not at the place I want to be, this class helped me master in
certain steps that will help me reach my goal. Now that the class is over, I
have read all of my reviews on essays and one thing that I wish I would have
done is
outline my essays. Writing off the
top of your mind is not always the answer. It is important to
have structure and flow in your
writings to keep the reader interested and as least confused as
possible. I would advise you,
future freshperson, to always take advantage of opportunities that will help
you enhance your college career whether it is extra credit, the writing center
or even
conversations with different peers.
You never know when you need a couple extra points in class, a group of friends
who want to see you succeed or even advice from a person who was
once in your shoes. Freshmen year
will not be easy but always remember to stay grounded and
prioritize. Time management is
essential in college and if you master this everything will be a lot easier. Don't forget to have fun little Haymanites, Casey will buy you donuts so don't worry.
Good Luck!
Joseph Sottile
